Musab Hassan
President
Musab brings extensive experience in community development and policy advocacy, with a strong commitment to fostering social cohesion, empowering communities, and driving meaningful, long-term positive change. As President, he provides strategic leadership to strengthen the organisation’s impact and support the growth and wellbeing of the Zaghawa community across Sydney. Focused on unity, growth, and community wellbeing.
Safia Sharif
Vice President
Safia plays a key leadership role in supporting the Union’s vision, strategic direction and community initiatives. Working closely with the Executive Committee, she helps strengthen community engagement, promote collaboration and ensure the successful delivery of programs that benefit members. She is deeply committed to fostering unity, empowering community participation and preserving the cultural values and traditions of the Zaghawa people.
Abubakar
Treasurer
Abubakar oversees the Union’s financial management and project funding, ensuring responsible use of resources. He is committed to supporting the organisation’s long-term sustainability and growth through careful planning and effective financial management. He works closely with the Executive Committee to ensure financial decisions align with the Union’s goals and priorities.
Suad
Secretary for Women and Children Affairs
Suad is passionate about supporting the wellbeing, empowerment, and advancement of women and children within the community. She works to promote inclusion, advocate for their needs and create opportunities that contribute to their personal development, confidence, and success. Through her leadership, she encourages greater participation of women and families in community life and helps foster a supportive environment where all members feel valued and heard.
Babar Kabeer
Secretary of Social and Cultural Affairs
Babar is dedicated to promoting cultural heritage and strengthening community connections through social and cultural initiatives. He works to organise programs and events that celebrate Zaghawa identity, foster community participation and encourage meaningful engagement across generations. Through his efforts, he helps preserve cultural traditions while strengthening a sense of belonging and unity within the community.
Fatuma Mohammed
Deputy Secretary of Social and Cultural Affairs
Fatuma plays a vital role in supporting cultural and community initiatives that bring people together, strengthen community bonds and foster a sense of belonging. She is committed to promoting cultural awareness, preserving community values and encouraging active participation across all generations. Through her dedication and community focused approach, she helps create opportunities for meaningful engagement, cultural exchange and stronger connections within the Zaghawa community.
Omer Younis
Secretary of State and Media
Omer brings strong communication, leadership and organisational skills to the community, supporting community engagement, advocacy and public outreach initiatives. He works to strengthen connections between members and the broader community through effective communication, media engagement and stakeholder relations. Through his role, he helps amplify the voice of the Zaghawa community, raise awareness of important community and humanitarian issues, and promote the Union’s mission across diverse audiences.
Adam Musa
Secretary General of the association
Adam serves as Secretary-General of the Union, overseeing administrative coordination and supporting the effective operation of the organisation. He works closely with the Executive Committee to ensure strong governance, facilitate communication, and help deliver initiatives that advance the Union’s mission and objectives. Through his dedication and organisational leadership, he helps strengthen the Union’s capacity to serve and support the community effectively.
