A Home Away From Home: Our Community Space
Our community space is a central place where members of the Zaghawa community come together to connect, share ideas and support one another. It serves as a welcoming environment for open discussion, community planning, and collaboration on issues that matter to our members across Australia, helping to guide the future direction of our community.
This space also plays an important role in preserving and celebrating Zaghawa culture. Through traditional items, cultural displays, and community presentations, we showcase our heritage and create opportunities for younger generations to learn about their identity, history and values, fostering pride and continuity across generations. For many members, this space truly represents a home away from home, a place of belonging, comfort and support. It is where friendships are built, cultural traditions are shared and strong community connections continue to grow in a welcoming and inclusive setting.
During the holy month of Ramadan, our community space becomes a place of gathering and reflection, where families and friends come together to share meals, strengthen relationships, and embrace the values of faith, unity, and compassion. We also warmly welcome guests from outside our community, including members of other cultural and faith groups, community leaders, and government representatives. These gatherings foster mutual understanding, strengthen relationships and create meaningful opportunities for engagement and dialogue.
Through these activities, our community space remains a vital part of our lives, bringing people together, preserving our culture and ensuring our community continues to grow stronger while staying connected to its roots.
يُعد مقرّ مجتمعنا مساحةً محوريةً يجتمع فيها أبناء مجتمع الزغاوة للتواصل وتبادل الأفكار ودعم بعضهم البعض. ويوفّر بيئةً ترحيبيةً للحوار البنّاء والتخطيط المجتمعي والتعاون في القضايا التي تهم أفراد مجتمعنا في مختلف أنحاء أستراليا، بما يسهم في رسم ملامح مستقبل مجتمعنا وتوجيه مسيرته.
كما يؤدي هذا المقر دوراً مهماً في الحفاظ على ثقافة الزغاوة والاحتفاء بها. فمن خلال عرض المقتنيات التراثية والفعاليات الثقافية والأنشطة المجتمعية، نُبرز إرثنا الثقافي ونوفّر للأجيال الشابة فرصاً للتعرّف على هويتهم وتاريخهم وقيمهم، بما يعزز الاعتزاز بالانتماء الثقافي ويضمن استمراريته عبر الأج يال. وبالنسبة للعديد من الأعضاء، يمثّل هذا المكان بحق «وطناً ثانياً»، حيث يجدون فيه الانتماء والراحة والدعم. فهو مساحة تُبنى فيها الصداقات، وتُتبادل فيها التقاليد الثقافية، وتتوطد فيها الروابط المجتمعية في بيئة ترحيبية وشاملة للجميع.
وخلال شهر رمضان المبارك، يتحول مقرّ المجتمع إلى ملتقى يجمع الأسر والأصدقاء في أجواء من التأمل والتآلف، حيث يتشاركون الوجبات ويعززون أواصر العلاقات ويجسدون قيم الإيمان والوحدة والتراحم. كما نرحب بضيوف من خارج مجتمعنا، بمن فيهم أفراد من مختلف المجموعات الثقافية والدينية، وقادة المجتمع، وممثلو الجهات الحكومية. وتسهم هذه اللقاءات في تعزيز التفاهم المتبادل، وتقوية العلاقات، وخلق فرصٍ هادفة للتواصل والحوار البنّاء.
ومن خلال هذه الأنشطة والبرامج، يظل مقرّ مجتمعنا جزءاً أساسياً من حياتنا، يجمع الناس ويوطد العلاقات ويحافظ على ثقافتنا، ويضمن استمرار نمو مجتمعنا وازدهاره مع الحفاظ على ارتباطه بجذوره وتراثه الأصيل.
Through cultural celebrations, community programs and collaborative initiatives, we bring people together to strengthen cultural identity, promote peace and unity and contribute to a more inclusive and harmonious Australian society. We welcome people of all backgrounds to join our upcoming events, connect with the community, celebrate culture, and be part of meaningful conversations and positive change.
